Scale Models for Jan Versweyveld
Een Klein Leven – Internationaal Theater Amsterdam

Durability
The scale models I made are not for the representation of the set design of Jan Versweyveld but stage elements of his design. Therefore, unlike a single use maquette, they are meant to be very durable and to last as long as the performance continues. For this purpose, I used wood, cardboard, wood-board and plexi-glass with good structure and precise cutting.
Een Klein Leven is expected to be very successful as almost every production of Ivo Van Hove and Internationaal Theater Amsterdam. Therefore, these models are expected to last for several years, especially when the company is touring the world.
The story of Een Klein Leven revolves around six friends. Versweyveld’s stage design is surrounding the world of Jude with other characters’ personal spaces. The scale models are placed on the corner of the Architect Malcolm Irvine. Jan Versweyveld’s inspiration for Malcolm was the legendary architect Ieoh Ming Pei.
